Handmade Shaker Boxes are made of beautiful select Cherry. They are made in graduated sizes which can be nested inside one another. The cherry wood is soaked in hot water and then hand shaped around wooded mold. Copper tacks are clinched using an anvil and allowed to dry using wooden oval shapers. Handmade Shaker Boxes are made of beautiful select Cherry. They are made in graduated sizes which can be nested inside one another. The cherry wood is soaked in hot water and then hand shaped around wooded mold. Copper tacks are clinched using an anvil and allowed to dry using wooden oval shapers. After 48 hours of drying the top and bottom cherry custom fit into lid and bottom. The tops and bottoms are assembled using wooden pegs.
The boxes are finished with several coats of hand rubbedoils, and then hand buffed and then receive a final hand waxing for a smooth finish that reveals the rich grain of the cherry wood. Cherry wood continues to darken to a beautiful aged patina and the copper tacks also developed an aged appearance.

Shaker Boxes originally made by the 'Shakers' were created as storage containers for food and sewing supplies ... the original 'Tupperware'. There was some variations from village to village, the method I use in the crafting of the Shaker Boxes remains in the traditions of construction methods and sizing as follows:
